AI readiness assessment

Find out whether your business is ready to get value from AI before you spend another dollar on it. An AI readiness assessment answers that question. It shows where AI makes sense for your business right now, where it doesn't and what has to be in place before it will pay off.

RBMS Professionals runs AI readiness assessments for small, mid-sized and enterprise businesses across the United States.

What an AI readiness assessment tells you

You come away with three findings:

  • Where AI creates value. The specific parts of your business where automation or AI tools would give your team time back.
  • Tech spend that isn't working. Tools and subscriptions you're paying for that aren't pulling their weight.
  • Processes done by hand. A map of the repeatable work your team still does manually, from intake to reporting.

Together those tell you where to start and what to leave alone for now.

The three areas we assess

Organizational readiness

Technology is rarely what stops an AI project. People and process are. We look at who owns the process you want to fix, whether the budget holder is engaged and whether your team has the appetite to change how the work gets done.

Data health

AI needs clean, usable data to work reliably. We check where your data lives, whether it's consistent across systems and whether anyone has set rules for who uses what. If the data isn't ready, we'll say so and point you to what fixing it involves through our data strategy consulting.

Capability and toolkit

Many businesses already pay for tools with AI features built in. We review what you have, how your team uses it and whether the skills are there to run something new. Sometimes the fastest win is getting better results from software you already own.

A quick self-check: is your business ready for AI?

You're probably ready if you recognize more than one of these:

  • A repeatable process is still done by hand, such as client intake, billing, scheduling, reporting or client communication
  • The person who controls the budget wants to be in the conversation
  • Your team wants to change how the work gets done, not just buy a tool
  • Something recently exposed the problem: a new hire saw how manual a process is, a client left over slow turnaround, or a growth push or sale is coming

You're probably not ready yet if:

  • There's no repeatable process to systemize, because the business is pre-revenue or too early
  • You want a tool installed but don't want to change how the team works
  • The interest comes from one enthusiastic employee and the budget holder isn't involved
  • The goal is fully autonomous AI that replaces staff with no human oversight

Landing in the second list still tells you something useful. It shows what to put in place first.

What the findings look like in practice

Picture a services firm where every new client arrives by email, gets typed into a spreadsheet, then gets typed again into billing software. An assessment would flag intake as a process done by hand, check whether the client data in those two places matches and ask whether the billing software already has automation the team isn't using. The finding might be that intake can be automated now, but the client list needs cleaning first.

Why an assessment beats an online readiness quiz

Online readiness tools ask general questions and return a general score. That can be a fine starting point. Our assessment looks at your actual processes, your actual data and the tools you already pay for and it ends with what to do next in your business specifically.

What happens in your AI readiness consult

You talk directly with the RBMS Professionals team. Come ready to describe the repeatable work that eats your team's time, even if it's just one process. Weekly reporting, client intake and billing are common places to start.

Bring the person who controls the budget and feels the bottleneck firsthand. If you have a CTO or IT director, bring them too. They'll want to see how the plan fits the tools you already run. You'll leave with a clear read on your readiness, your data and your tools. You'll also get an honest answer on where AI makes sense for you.

After the assessment

If you decide to move forward, the assessment becomes the first step of a longer engagement. We build a roadmap around your business through our AI strategy consulting, help your team carry it out with AI implementation and automation and connect you with vetted partners where you need more hands.

AI readiness assessment: common questions

What is an AI readiness assessment?

An AI readiness assessment evaluates whether your business can get real value from AI. It covers your organization's readiness for change, the health of your data and your current tools and skills. It shows where AI fits and where it doesn't.

Who should take part?

The person who controls the budget and feels the bottleneck firsthand, usually an owner, founder, managing partner, COO, CFO or director of operations. Technical leaders are welcome too.

How is a readiness assessment different from an AI strategy?

The assessment tells you where you stand and where AI fits. An AI strategy takes those findings and turns them into a roadmap: what to do, in what order and who does it.

What if we're not ready for AI yet?

Then we'll tell you and show you what to fix first. Often that's getting a process consistent enough to systemize, or cleaning up the data underneath it.
